HERZLIA, Israel – JANUARY 5, 2011 – The Wireless Home Digital Interface (WHDI) Consortium announced today the addition of two new members: IOGEAR, a leader in convergence through connectivity products and IDX Technology, manufacturer of broadcast power products.
The companies join WHDI Consortium founders AMIMON, Hitachi, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and LG Electronics, plus dozens of adopters of the WHDI standard, in promoting the first and only standard that enables top-quality wireless uncompressed HD video delivery throughout the home, allowing consumers to connect any source in the home to any display.
“We are honored to join the WHDI Consortium,” said says Douglas Turner, vice president, IOGEAR. “Joining the WHDI consortium will enable us to develop products that give consumers the freedom to view HD content from any multi-room video source on the television, while maintaining a high quality picture.”
“The addition of these new companies to the WHDI Consortium is another testament to the growth of the WHDI standard as the only viable option for delivering interactive HD video from any device to any display,” said Leslie Chard, President, WHDI. “IOGEAR and IDX joining the ecosystem ensures seamless interoperability among manufacturers and flexibility for consumers to access and view content from numerous brands of personal devices.”
The companies are proud to announce their advanced wireless high definition solutions:
IOGEAR Wireless 3D Media Kit – With a WHDI powered wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver, IOGEAR takes wireless home entertainment and multi-room enjoyment to a convenient level of connectivity, flexibility, convenience and decor. It's capable of streaming Full HD 1080p with support for latest 3D movie content, along with 5.1 digital surround sound audio up to 100 feet away within the home. IOGEAR’s Wireless 3D Digital Kit will be demonstrated at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 in the WHDI suite (Hilton Hotel #23121) and at the IOGEAR booth (Central Hall #7917). The demonstration will feature a multi-room solution with pass through, connecting an STB to a local TV via wire, and using WHDI to connect another TV in the next room.
IDX HD Wireless Camera System – The CAM-WAVE HD wireless camera transmission system sends uncompressed video images from camera to receiving station in HD, with a latency of less than 1 millisecond. The transmission is wireless, uncompressed and encrypted so the director, producer or even film crew can see exactly what the camera is shooting in real-time.
WHDI is a new standard for multi-room audio, video and control connectivity. The WHDI standard enables widespread worldwide adoption of interoperable wireless HD video products such as TVs, Blu-ray players, PCs, AV receivers, STBs and mobile devices. WHDI Adopters gain access to specification documents, the WHDI logo and WHDI certification program, thus allowing them to develop products that conform to the specification, and that can interoperate with the many WHDI products by other adopters.
WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface) is the only viable option available for connecting the content on all HD devices to the TV. WHDI technology enables wireless delivery of uncompressed HDTV throughout the home with video rates of up to 1080p in the 5Ghz unlicensed band. WHDI surpasses competitive technologies by providing outstanding and consistent picture quality equivalent to wired HDMI™ cable, low latency, multi-room availability and low power consumption.
